Vision and Purpose
Human beings achieve by overcoming themselves. CHO-IN (Ubermensch) is that person who strives against eternally recurring fate, strengthening and enriching his life.
Cho-In Theatre company performs entirely without words.
We believe that the spoken language imposes limits on our audiences, and that through facial expressions, body movement and breathing we create a more genuine and direct form of communication. Although an absence of words can demand a greater commitment from our audiences, it also increases their emotional involvement. Our company’s innovative approach produces new meanings from universal themes, resulting in an award-winning fusion of traditional and contemporary physical theatre styles.
The roots of the company trace back to 1998, but it was officially formed in 2002. Since then it has performed with major festivals around the world, including engagements in Japan, Singapore, France, and the Edinburgh Fringe. The company also performs regularly throughout Korea, where they have received many awards.
